Footscray By Night (A Second Call) (2019)
The fire that devastated Little Saigon Shopping Centre in 2016 was the context for a re-imagining of Footscray By Night, first staged in 2011 at the centre. Situating the second iteration in proximity to Wominjeka Tarnuk Yooroom (by Vicki Couzens, Maree Clarke and Jeph Neale, 2013), a public artwork located at the southern end of the Footscray Mall, the event brings into dialogue with local Indigenous community practitioners of Melbourne’s West to explore conversations of dispossession and dislocation between migrant and Indigenous communities. A song menu is offered for guests to perform.
