Labour (2013)

A work themed song menu is offered to arts festival guests at three sites related to the history of work in Melbourne’s west.

Site 1. Cotton Mills Precinct – A former manufacturing hub located adjacent to Melbourne’s Docklands redeveloped for ‘creative’ industries.

Site 2. Lentil As Anything – A pay-as-you-feel restaurant employing refugees and the marginalised.

Site 3. Sunshine Marketplace – Site of the former Sunshine Harvester Works factory where workers initiated the first major industrial dispute in Australia in 1907. The case set the precedent for what became known as the ‘living wage’.
